DINEMO Project workshop: "Advancing Distributed Generation in Turkey"

Integrating a renewable energy into the grid requires active management of generation units connected to the distribution grid: Distributed Generation. The DINEMO (Distribution Networks Modernization Incentives in Preaccession Countries) project aims to contribute to the reliable and economically effective integration of Distributed Generation (DG) to the grid. It is based on the transfer of the EU experiences using the joint efforts of the EU partners, the research community, and market players in the newest EU member countries Bulgaria and Romania as well as Turkey as an EU accession candidate. The project’s goal is to contribute to the secure and economical integration of DG to the grids in these three countries.

The project objectives are to:

  1. Investigate the effect of the large scale implementation of DG on the distribution grid operation.
  2. Identify design and operational principles and technical measures required for the large-scale integration of DG into the grid.
  3. Estimate the economic parameters of the considered technical measures.
  4. Identify the necessary regulatory measures, that would contribute to a secure and economical integration of DG to the grid, as well as fair cost allocation.
  5. Identify priorities for further research. In particular, the project will focus the research efforts to identify particular studies to be carried out in the future, and encourage the project follow-up activities.
  6. Involve market players in the project follow-up activities, particularly the development of the distribution grid adjustment process.

The objective of the present Workshop, which is focused on Advancing Distributed Generation in Turkey, is to discuss and validate the preliminary results of the project work of the consortium and to formulate recommendations about the necessary measures to be adopted to implement the recommended changes in the distribution grid.
